Terminalia chebula is the main ingredient in the Ayurvedic formulation Triphala which is used for kidney and liver dysfunctions.[8] The dried fruit is also used in Ayurveda as a purported antitussive, cardiotonic, homeostatic, diuretic, and laxative.
